7 Fun Ways To Celebrate Your Birthday In Reno

When you’re a kid, birthdays are a big deal! It’s a whole event with a party, cake, food, activities, and all your favorite people. As we get older, there’s less and less fanfare. Adult birthday parties usually revolve around dinner, but there’s no reason you shouldn’t celebrate with the same enthusiasm as you did when you were nine years old (except with 21+ beverages). Here are some of our favorite ways to enjoy your birthday in Reno!

1. Food Tour

You know that list of places you want to try but haven’t gotten around to yet? Knock them all out at once with a Reno Food Tour! Instead of going to one place for a birthday dinner, you and your friends can taste through an entire Reno neighborhood. Our food walks feature excellent Reno restaurants in either Midtown or Downtown. You’ll taste food from several restaurants while learning about Reno’s art and history. A food tour gift certificate makes a fantastic birthday gift for your food-loving friends.

2. Cooking Class

Another food-focused option is a birthday cooking class. Nothing To It Culinary Center offers a wide array of courses in Reno. Tackle a new dish (maybe a sushi class), cuisine (food from Provence), or technique (cooking with cast iron). When the class is done, you get to eat a delicious meal that you cooked yourself.

3. Jump for Joy

If you want to feel like a kid, visit one of Reno’s trampoline parks. There are three of them in the Reno-Sparks area: Fly High Trampoline Park, Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park, and DEFY Trampoline Park. You can find wall-to-wall trampolines for jumping, foam pits, dodgeball, and more. There are just about a million ways to get your adrenaline up!

4. TopGolf

You don’t have to be a golfer to be excited about a day at TopGolf. TopGolf at Silver Legacy is a virtual reality experience where you can play Zombie Dodgeball, shoot hockey, play football, and practice your golf swing, and that’s just to name a few.

5. Camping

Escape into the outdoors for your birthday. Whether you like desert, forest, or lakes there are lots of camping options just a short drive from Reno. Stay lakeside in Tahoe near Zephyr Cove, or soak in natural hot springs on the Black Rock Desert.

6. Lake Day

Reno is close to not one, but two world-class lakes. While everyone knows Tahoe (and rightfully so), Pyramid Lake is a striking high desert lake under an hour away. Both make an excellent backdrop for a birthday lake day. In Tahoe, you can lounge on one of the pristine beach beaches, paddleboard, kayak, or swim. A lot of beaches are nearby to restaurants.  Pyramid Lake is known for fishing and the tufa formations look like pyramids coming out from the water. Pyramid Lake isn’t near any towns, so it’s best to bring a picnic to enjoy when you’re there.

7. Board Game Night

Grab your friends for a board game night. There is a vast world of board games. Whether you want to get laughing or strategizing, and whether you have 2 or 20 people. For a low-key night, you can host a board game night at home with snacks or take out. If you don’t have any board games head to Glass Die, Reno’s board game bar.  They have thousands of board games to choose from and the knowledgable staff will help you pick one that fits your mood. Glass Die serves beer, wine and ciders, and you can get food delivered to enjoy while you play. Sometimes on weekends there is even a food truck parked outside.
