A Very Reno Fourth Of July

fireworks in the sky

Ready to break out the red, white and blue? Listen to freedom ring? Salute to the bold stripes and bright stars? Fourth of July is just around the corner and there is no place quite like Reno for embracing your inner Yankee and celebrating the 4th!

And it’s not just about the 4th! There are so many ways to carry your festivities into the rest of the week and the month of July. With the 4th falling midweek, there’s no reason to limit your celebrations to just one day. Here are a few of our favorite ways to channel your inner patriot.

Star-Spangled Sparks

The Nugget Casino in Sparks hosts the area’s largest Independence Day party, which includes an epic fireworks display. The free event features live music, food, and local vendors. If you want the VIP experience you can purchase tickets that give access to premium seating and picnic style dinner.

Red, White, and Tahoe Blue

Many people consider Tahoe the place to be for Independence Day. Mountain air, sandy beaches, and the deep blue lake certainly make a desirable setting. Festivities happen all around the lake. Incline Village hosts Red White and Tahoe Blue from June 30 to July 4th. Events include pancake breakfasts, ice cream eating contests, and rubber duck races.

For fireworks at the lake, it’s hard to beat Lights on The Lake at South Shore Lake Tahoe. The display is considered one of the Top 5 in the nation. The show starts at 9:45 pm.

If you don’t want to battle with as many crowds, consider checking out the July 3rd Fireworks Show & Beach Party at King’s Beach.

Food, food and more food

Our melting pot of a country means we have access to incredible cuisines from around the globe. American food is more than burgers and barbeque (although those things are amazing), it’s also about flavors brought over by immigrants. At Arario, in Midtown, you can find kimchi fries that blend Korean and American classic. On a Reno Food Tour, you can get a taste of Old World Italian cooking at La Famiglia and experience authentic Mexican with a Reno flare at Mari Chuys. Book a tour.

Artown

In Reno, the whole month of July is a celebration of art. Artown is a comprehensive art festival that features events in everything from music to theater and visual arts. There are events happening every day. This Fourth you can take in a classical concert at Wingfield Park, enjoy Veterans’ art exhibits or dance to blues music. Check out all the amazing events on the Artown website.
