Thali

This North Indian joint in West Street Market offers an entirely vegetarian menu, but it can easily be made vegan on request. The name “thali” refers to the round dish commonly used to serve food in India. Thali platters let you try a little bit of everything, which is exactly what you get at Thali. Curries, rotis, lime pickles, dal and other vibrantly flavored dishes come on the shining silver circles. Every night your thali comes with a set menu that was cooked fresh that day. You can always count on freshly made flatbreads, rice, and flavorful organic vegan food. The best part: it’s all you can eat, so you can feast on the richly spiced, beautifully contrasting organic food till your heart’s content.

Maya’s

After you get your fix of North Indian fare, take a flavor trip to the South at Maya’s. Thali’s sister restaurant runs out of the same space in West Street Market. Unlike Thali which serves dinner, Maya’s is open for lunch from Thursday to Sunday 11- 2 pm and serves up vegetarian and vegan food from Southern India. Maya offers an authentic take on a regional Indian cuisine that is often overshadowed by the curries and Tandooris of the North. At Maya’s, you’ll find fresh made dosa’s (lentil pancakes stuffed with potato), idli(puffed rice and lentil cakes), and sambar, among other South Indian delicacies, always served alongside bright and flavorful chutneys.

Laughing Planet

This Portland-based chain, made its way to the Biggest Little City in 2014, and their plant-based cooking has been a hit at the Midtown location ever since. The menu isn’t 100% vegetarian or vegan. Meat options are available, but the concept is plant-centric, and there are lots of vegan options on the menu, which are called out on the menu. The menu features local ingredients, paired with global flavors in the form of bowls, burritos, and fresh pressed juices. You can feel good about the healthy and yummy dishes and their effort to have as small a carbon footprint as possible!

House of Mexica

The newest addition to Reno’s vegan food scene House of Mexica hasn’t been open long but their mouthwatering animal-product free food is making them the talk of the town. The 100% vegan fare is a favorite for vegans and non-vegans alike, with faux meat options, come in chicken, carnitas, and carne asada!
